WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
"Agent Orange has become part of the food chain for the people of South Vietnam -- affecting their water and food supply -- and remains a problem today. The directors of Friendship Village say all the veterans were exposed and all the children's parents served in South Vietnam during the war."
Strangely U.S., the country that caused all this, seems to be last on the list to help - yet it's own people will eat the imported foods from the very countries that they contaminated. Why a such a rich country has to attack/plunder the poor of the world has always disturbed me. see also my earlier post:

Dear friends,
The Vietnam Friendship Village is a reconciliation project in Vietnam for children and veterans suffering from Agent Orange-related illnesses. Agent Orange was the toxic herbicide sprayed by the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War to defoliate the country's dense jungle canopies and expose the elusive enemy forces. Agent Orange contains dioxin, one of the deadliest chemicals known to mankind.
The mission of the Vietnam Friendship Village Project is to cultivate reconciliation and heal the wounds of the war by uniting veterans and caring global citizens through international cooperation in the building and support of the Friendship Village. The Friendship Village currently treats and houses over 120 children and veterans, and stands as a living symbol of peace. It lies 17 km from downtown Hanoi on a former rice paddy.
The Canadian Committee for the Vietnam Friendship Village Project was formed in October 2002 in Vancouver, B.C. Joining with our friends in the United States, Germany, France, Japan, Great Britain and Australia, we are committed to building friendships with the people of Vietnam, and to helping mitigate the ongoing effects of the toxic herbicides sprayed during the war.
If you would like to make a donation to the Friendship Village, please send a cheque or money order made payable to the Vietnam Friendship Village Project to:
