Red Cross CEO Pulled Down $651,957 Salary - Bush Strafes New Orleans

Plundering of the indefensible, innocent and poor in the name of charity. And the thread continues where wars are fought under the pretense of religions, sickness is foisted in the name of health, energy and resources shortages deliberately created to inflate prices on and on....

One does not have to go too far back in history than the 911 and Tsunami disasters to see that governments and pretentious agencies only do something if there is something in it for them. Sad.

"Red Cross' Top Person: Marsha Evans
Top Salary:* $651,957
(FY ending 06/30/03)

Total Revenue FY ending 6/2003: $2,946,000,000"

There is no one, repeat no one, that is worth that kind of money let alone members of a charitable organizations who can't or won't fulfill even their mandate let alone are befitting of all that dough!

Just like days of old when all were duped into thinking that the kings where above others but finally when challenged to prove that they indeed were better than others they could not do it.

In this gloomy picture there yet may be glimmer of hope - naturally you will not hear much about this if at all....

"...One charity has stayed above all this for 137 years. The Salvation Army is unique among all U.S. charities for many reasons. Let's start at the top. Commissioner Todd Bassett receives a salary just $13,000 per year (plus housing) for managing this $2 Billion dollar organization. By comparison, Brian Gallagher, President of the United Way receives a $375,000 base salary (plus numerous expensive benefits) and the Red Cross President Marsha Evans receives $450,000 (the article was written in 2002 a wapping 50% increase in 1 year??) plus benefits..."

"There is no such thing as a "natural" disaster. Hurricanes happen, but death comes from official neglect, from tax cuts for the rich that cut the heart out of public protection. The corpses in the street are victims of a class war in which only one side has a general."

Don't Give Your Hurricane Donations to the American Red Cross
Establishment charities have criminal history of stealing disaster funds

Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones | Updated September 3 2005

As the aftermath of hurricane Katrina continues to wreak mayhem and havoc amid reports of mass looting, shooting at rescue helicopters, rapes and murders, establishment media organs are promoting the Red Cross as a worthy organization to give donations to.

The biggest website in the world, Yahoo.com, displays a Red Cross donation link prominently on its front page.

Every time there is a major catastrophe the Red Cross and similar organizations like United Way are given all the media attention while other charities are left in the shadows. This is not to say that the vast majority of Red Cross workers are not decent people who simply want to help those in need.

But what the media fails consistently to remember in their promotion of the organization is that the American Red Cross have been caught time and time again withholding money in the wake of horrible disasters that require immediate release of funds.

The Red Cross, under the Liberty Fund, collected $564 million in donations after 9/11. Months after the event, the Red Cross had distributed only $154 million. The Red Cross' explanation for keeping the majority of the money was that it would be used to help 'fight the war on terror'. To the victims, this meant that the money was going towards bombing broken backed third world countries like Afghanistan and setting up surveillance cameras and expanding the police state in US cities, and not towards helping them rebuild their lives.

Then Red Cross President Dr. Bernadine Healy arrogantly responded when questioned about the withholding of funds by stating, "The Liberty Fund is a war fund. It has evolved into a war fund."

Despite the family members of victims of 9/11 complaining bitterly to a House Energy and Commerce Committee's oversight panel, the issue seemed to be brushed under the carpet and the mud didn't stick.

The Red Cross' scandalous activities reach back far before 9/11.

After the devastating San Francisco earthquake in 1989, the Red Cross passed on only $10 million of the $50 million that had been raised, and banked the rest.

Similar donations after the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 and the Red River flooding in 1997 were also greedily withheld.

Insight Magazine reported,

"The first days after the bombing,” says one family member, "people from all over the country were sending checks in lieu of flowers and we were getting a lot of checks and cash every day hundreds, even thousands, of dollars. Then the Red Cross went down to the post office and made arrangements to collect the mail and they would deliver it to us in bulk. All the mail had been opened, and from that point on there never was a dime, even in letters that said money was enclosed.”

The Red Cross has been caught engaging in rampant corruption on an all too regular basis.

3,000 people died after thousands of Canadians were infected with HIV and hepatitis C from tainted blood supplies. The Canadian Red Cross pleaded guilty to the charges earlier this year after they had been directly caught knowlingly shipping out the infected blood.

Smaller charities that were involved with the 2004 Tsunami relief project went public to say that large charities like Red Cross and United Way were engaged in secret backroom negotiations with each other that meant a large portion of the donation money was purposefully restricted from reaching the most needy areas affected by the disaster.

The history is clear, the Red Cross and other large so-called charities are in actual fact front group collection agencies for the military industrial complex.

Many informed historians have even alleged that the Red Cross was used as a Skull and Bones cover to overthrow The Russian Czar and pave the way for the rise of the Bolsheviks.

Do not give any money to the Red Cross unless you support the expansion of empire abroad and police state at home. Find a smaller trustworthy organization in the local area of New Orleans and make your donation to them.

Correction: Elizabeth Dole was paid $150,000.00 as the President of the R.C. This amount was published in the legitament press a number of years ago. I will not donate to R.C. or other large organizations that pay the top people large sums of money. I do a lot of volunteer work myself for no remuneration. If anyone wants to donate, donate to the Lions, Knights of Columbus or such organizations where the leaders are not highly paid and most work for nothing.

Just an FYI. A couple of years ago a guy won the Florida Lottery and made a donation of $500,000 to the Salvation Army. They refused to accept it and returned the $$ becaused it came from the illgotten means of GAMBLING! I will never give the Salvation Army or Red Cross another DIME! Find another charity.....

We always assume that more money will attract better individuals. That is not necessarily true. Some of the best school teachers are those who volunteer to spend extra time with students after hours and on weekends, regardless of salary. While we must earn a decent living, the best may those who are in it for the love of the game. The Red Cross now seeks 40,000 volunteers to assist with Katrina. Obviously, this attempt to use individuals free of charge flys in the face of the "best and the brightest" theory. What is most disgusting is most of the donated money will not go to the victims. Instead of donations, our tax dollars should go to Katrina victims before they are spent elsewhere. What many do not realize is, large contractors, like Haliburton will get most of the rebuilding money. We the tax payers will be paying for it all. We are all suckers.

I believe thoroughly in the "equal dignity" theory of who merits "merit", awards, rewards, etc. ... AND that would, for charitable organizations and religious groups indicate that all the "leaders" as well as workers should get an equal, livable, enjoyable, healthy salary, but commensurate with the amount of "investment" they have in their "service" which would include apportioned education costs IF they paid for it themselves .. if publicly funded then somewhat less .. Why should someone have all the privileges and advantages of a proper, appropriate and rewarded education, (as opposed say to the proverbial ditch-digger who sweats for a living for self and family). Why do we perpetuate the nonsense that those who expend sweat are somehow less deserving of common benefits of society such as good salaries than the "educated".?

"Equal Dignity" should hold for the leaders of charity as well as other areas where snobbisms tend to skew the equations otherwise.

thes kind of theifs should not be able to do what they are , they should be in jail with someone large and friendly, i cant believe that these things are allowed to go on, the war chest fund for one is absolute bs, the red cross should be banned fron soliciting anything from now on, and all of the money they have in the band should be taken by the us treasury and used to take care of the country, there is no justification for a ceo to make over 40,000 a year for serving the public, she ( ceo of rc) should be shamed, how does this happen?

The Salvation Army is a great organization. People that have to curse in anger need to just calm down and get all the facts straight. There are many corps in the salvation army who do not have a lot of money.

If anyone thinks that the salvation army has all these churches that have tons of money and all the shelters dont, need to do their homework a bit. go to your local salvation army building in your town and chances are its a small beat up place.

Most church members are made up of the "unwanted" people that other churches dont have room for.

Sure, there are some nice salvation army churches . . .but there are also some nice shelters as well. All in all though, most salvation army buildings (shelter or church) are not that special. They are often older buildings.

The Salvation Army also spends very little on their own staff. even if you include the housing and car that an officer gets, its far less then what a director of the YMCA, United way, or red cross gets. Also, if the salvation army church loses money and has to stay afloat, do you know the firs thing that gets cut . . . the salvation army directors salary.

So yes, there probably are some tough salvation army spots out there but there cant be 5 million dollar buildings everywhere. Thats just the facts of life. Money doesnt grow on trees.

I also worked for the salvation army fulltime for 3 years in a thrift store & believe me it is NOT the "christian" organization it professes to be.I was always concerned exactly where the money went we brought in.We were the largest of 3 in our district& we averaged about 40,000 a month. I dont know what our commanding officer made but my manager made over $10 an hr she told me.As an assist.mgr. I ended at $6.86 after 2 raises in 3 yrs.As far as the officers went I did know they live in a donated house & drive a donated car and take things they need form donations.Last year the warehouse manager participated in many weekend flea markets, which supposedly was not allowed. My own manager has taken $ out of a small kettle in the store & used it to get our boss his christmas present!I think maybe the worst thing was when an employee went to have an abortion recently, she recieved 3 days bereavement pay as well as got flowers and paid sick hours to go do this. Supposedly all $ from our store & the 2 others went to the ARC here in town.I got to know some of the guys staying at the center as they came into the store for "work therapy", which actually is free labor for the army.If anyone saw this building they were in (most food gets donated also yu would also wonder where all this money goes. Oh btw, they have auditors come in every year & guess what? They are salvation army officers. lol Think twice before donating. I could write a book

My parents, grandparents, great grandparents, all served as officers in the Salvation Army. Growing up, I wore the clothes that you threw away. My father, with his PHD, chose to work for God and man for the measly amount that the Salvation Army paid. My family is hardly a bunch of leftovers. Just commited to serving.

Does anyone know how we might confirm the accuracy of wide spread internet accounts of Red Cross executive salaries in the half million
dollar range?IF TRUE I WOULD LIKE INFORMATION ON HOW TO START FLOODING THEIR OFFICES WITH PROTEST LETTERS AND E-MAILS.Why do peeople continue to pour hard earned cash down these self serving rat holes?I agree that the only answer is to support the needy in or near our own community with our time or money.Look for and research the integrity of smaller or church affiliated organizations to help internationally.

Look for charities that are completely without paid staff or fundraiser. They exist. The Baja Project For Crippled Children, Inc is such a non-profit and has existed nearly 30 years with a completely volunteer staff. No religious organizations or interests. We go to Mexico, El Salvador, and Honduras and have performed thousands of club foot operations for less than $750 each, raising money through word of mouth and working out of our homes and offices. No CEO, no secretary, no paid fundraisers or staff, no money spent for other than a few stamps, a web site, medical supplies and surgical equipment, used only for these medical missions. It all goes to help the kids born with these deformities. Our volunteers pay their own travel expenses, and that is all there is to it.

I work for The Salvation Army and have for quite a long time. It is a great deal, a nice expensive home paid for, all the taxes and insurance, all maintance and landscaping, my food, clothing, dinners out every night, the best health insurance you can buy and a cult like atmosphere that if you attempt to challenge us we will get elimate you faster than that those dimes and nickels fall into the kettle. The american people are suckers and fools and we are laughing all the way to the bank. Suckers!

People should be paid based on value. I personally believe it is wrong that a non-profit like Red Cross who might bring in over a $1 billion dollars in donates, only spends less than 1/10th of it on actually helping people. However, non-profits that actually do help the public, should be paid based on the value they help the public. William Henry, your comment seems quite ignorant. You believe a person who does good for the public should not get paid no more than $40,000 USD a year? I hope you do realize that public official's such as Mayors, Senators, Deans of State Universities, Principles, Health Department Directors, Hospital Directors, etc... all make well over $85,000 to $250k+ a year. Your statement is invalid... Any person who does greatness for the public, should be paid for it. If a man is feeding 10,000 people a day, providing jobs, education, a future for families. He should be rewarded greatly for it.

And to add insult to injury, CEO pay shot up to the highest amount since 2007, according to the AP. Here is the proof: CEO salaries at highest level since 2007
