Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Ruse

After Pharmagiant Pfizer recently launched a $ 40 M ad campaign to sell "Zoloft for everything", now comes Eli Lilly and Co. to tell us if we're not patiently standing in line we might have ADD and should see our doctor for their new prescription drug. According to an article on CNN today, the questions on Eli Lilly's site include "How often are you distracted by activity or noise around you?" and "How often do you feel restless or fidgety?" - Responses of "sometimes" to the questions on the company's Web site prompts a message that the symptoms may be consistent with adult ADD and a visit to the doctor is recommended.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Of course ADD was first manufactured - yes, that's the correct word - for pushing Ritalin on school kids. Now the drug companies are "opening a new market" to sell the same type of drugs to adults who are restless and fidgety.

Meanwhile, legislation is being pushed through lawmaking assemblies globally, to restrict the only effective and side-effect-free means to attain good health in a world full of nutritional pitfalls, supplements that contain vitamins, minerals and other nutritional factors we can't find any more in our food.

One could conclude that the real drug pushers are sitting in posh boardrooms plotting strategies of how to get more people hooked on their pharmaceutical wonder pills. Talking about drug pushers ... the much touted "war on drugs" and the proposed "regulation of the supplement market" are strategies of the real drug pushers to protect their profits, rather than our health.

Statistics indicate that hundreds of thousands die each year from pharmaceutical drugs' "side effects". Of course the millions who say they love to take their supplements because they make them feel better and keep them healthy are mere anecdotes, according to medical science.

What the heck are we doing?

For Gene Haislip, a former official of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, the perennial debate over Ritalin, the stimulant commonly prescribed for children with "attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)," is an aching reminder of a moral battle he fought ˆ and lost ˆ to big drug companies.

Oil pills boost pupil brain power
Children who were under performing in class have seen an improvement in concentration and behaviour after taking a cocktail of natural oils. More than 120 children aged between six and 12 took part in trials, funded by Durham County Council. Half used a combination of omega-3 fish oil and omega-6 evening primrose oil and half an olive oil placebo. The research showed children's learning and behaviour improved significantly when taking the natural fatty acids.

Zoloft is a hot selling drug that rakes in billions for the pharma manufacturer. While no more effective than placebo -... [read more]

Antidepressants - Drugging kids in school
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD, is a custom-made "disease" to start selling drugs quite legally to school kids. Have the doctor prescribe them. Your kid will be that much better off - or not? It appears that the real dough about the adverse effects of antidepressant drugs has been kept secret so as not to ruin sales. Violence and suicide are common side effects of those drugs, and... [read more]

Giant Floating Purple Pills
Are those creepy prescription-drug commercials on TV trying to kill you? In September, when I wrote Purple Prozac Prescribed for PMS I thought it a little odd that someone would make purple pills - too much like those coloured sugar eggs we got to eat at Easter time. Well - it appears that the purple pills have now invaded the TV screens of our American friends. Mark Morford, columnist for... [read more]

FDA Orders Antidepressant Suicide Warnings Over Psychiatric Association Resistance
The American Psychiatric Association (APA) has been strangely resistant to the idea of warning patients of an increased risk of suicides when taking antidepressant drugs or SSRIs. One would think that psychiatrists should be the first ones to call for such warnings, but perhaps they fear to "lose ground" to natural alternatives in the treatment of mental disorders, which they have been persecuting for decades, concentrating their treatment efforts nearly... Linked to 20 deaths, Shire Pharmaceuticals' Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder drug Adderall was suspended by Health Canada, resulting in a ten per cent drop in the UK company's shares, according to a Bloomberg report.
